Weather:
Seattle's weather in October is unpredictable. The
average temperature in October is 53 degrees, but has also
been as known to rain hard, snow (seldom) and/or warm up
into the low 80s
(seldom). You can almost count on overcast days, wind and
possibly even rain. But then again, it could be clear and
sunny, and you'll agree, the bluest skies you'll ever see
are in Seattle with extraordinary views of Mt. Rainier and
Mt. Baker, as well as the Cascade and Olympics mountain
ranges.
Before you leave home, check the weather forecast at
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/
and enter, “Seattle, Washington”
to secure the local forecast. The Summit is in the downtown
waterfront area |

These high
adventure rivers offer an adventurous way to see the
beautiful Northwest. Ah, Boulder Drop! Just the name
of that rapid, causes the hearts of river rafters to
think twice before plunging their craft in to the
heart of this thundering Class IV to V rapid. When
the river is at 8000 cubic feet per second (CFS) or
above, it becomes solid Class V and you need a great
team with one of our Skykomish hardened seasoned
veterans to guide you through. We always stop and
scout this rapid, as some of you will choose to walk
around. No worries, there are plenty of other
exciting Class III+ to Class IV- type of rapids to
max out your adrenal gland as you wind down the
river to our take-out at Big Eddy State Park. The
awesome power of this river along with stunning
scenery makes this trip a true Northwest can't miss

Experience
Seattle’s notorious sites and magnificent views
through its waterways! Launching near Historic
Gasworks Park with a view of Seattle's notorious
Space Needle, we will head west through a series of
waterways and passages towards the salty waters of
Puget Sound. First we'll dodge sea planes and check
out the houseboats made famous in Tom Hank's classic
"Sleepless in Seattle” on Lake Union. Next we will
cruise through the Fremont Cut into Salmon Bay where
Alaska's mighty commercial fishing and crab fleet of
the Bering Sea call home. After safely descending 30
feet down to sea level through the locks, Puget
Sound will greet you with Sea Lions, Harbor Seals
and Eagles along its rocky shore. Well paddle out
through Shilshole bay and land on the soft sand
beaches of Golden Gardens where a magnificent view
of the Olympic Mountains await. |
